Course Information
The School Bus (S) Endorsement course meets all FMCSA requirements for CDL holders seeking to operate a “school bus”. A school bus means a CMV used to transport pre-primary, primary, or secondary school students from home to school, from school to home, or to and from school-sponsored events. School bus does not include operations of a for-hire motor carrier. This course must be completed before taking a School Bus Endorsement skills test.
Course contents include:
• Student management, including proper procedures for loading/unloading passengers
• Operating practices and procedures
• School Bus security and special safety considerations
• Pre- and post-trip inspections, along with route and stop reviews
• Post-crash procedures including emergency exit and evacuation
• Proper procedures at railroad-highway grade crossings and drawbridges
