School Bus Driver Workshop: Hazard Recognition & Mitigation
As a professional driver, you must recognize and be prepared for hazards you may encounter on your route. During this course we’ll discuss the most devastating crashes scenarios, including railroad crossings, intersections, and pedestrian crossings. You will leave with a heightened awareness of potential hazards, tools to reduce your risk, and the knowledge to act in the event of an emergency.
During this course, you will:
• Learn how to utilize the Triple L – C Defensive Driving Principles to reduce your risk of a pedestrian or cyclist collision
• Review three real-life intersection crash scenarios and discuss how professional driver best practices could have prevented the collisions
• Operation Lifesaver
• Identify and learn how to safely navigate adverse driving conditions you may encounter
• Discuss when and how to evacuate, and steps to take after evacuation
• Identify proper protocols if a downed power line is near their bus
What is NDSC Distance Learning?
This virtual course is not pre-recorded. You’ll be virtually face-to-face with an instructor who will guide you and other students through an interactive digital training experience from the comfort of your office, home or wherever you are.
The NDSC has determined that cell phones will not be allowed as an acceptable device to attend our Distance Learning Sessions. You will need your cell phone available to scan and complete the evaluation, which is not possible to do if using it as your session viewing screen.
