School Bus Driver Workshop: Creating a Safe Student Environment
As the bus driver, you’re seen as an authority figure with the ability to influence the students you transport. There’s a lot of trust placed in your ability to properly handle situations that arise on the bus. During this course, we’ll give you the tools to create a safe, caring and structured environment that sets the stage for your student’s school day.
Course topics will include:
• Creating Safe Bus Stops: review unsafe bus stop scenarios and learn specific actions you can take in these situations
• Successful Student Management – topics will include building student-driver rapport, establishing bus rules, student discipline guidelines, incident reports, and how to manage a crisis situation
• Operation Lifesaver
• Sleeping Kids – learn proper end-of-route protocols and how to use the child-check-mate system
What is NDSC Distance Learning?
This virtual course is not pre-recorded. You’ll be virtually face-to-face with an instructor who will guide you and other students through an interactive digital training experience from the comfort of your office, home or wherever you are.
The NDSC has determined that cell phones will not be allowed as an acceptable device to attend our Distance Learning Sessions. You will need your cell phone available to scan and complete the evaluation, which is not possible to do if using it as your session viewing screen. Please be sure you can sign in using a Computer, Laptop or Tablet with a webcam or embedded camera and speakers.
