The Emergency Medical Responder course prepares students to provide immediate, lifesaving care during medical and trauma emergencies. Designed for first responders, workplace emergency response teams, law enforcement, firefighters, and community members, this course builds the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to assess emergencies, provide critical patient care, and assist EMS professionals until advanced care arrives.
This updated curriculum has been reorganized to align more closely with current National EMS Education Standards, helping students receive relevant, up-to-date emergency medical training. Through classroom instruction, hands-on skills practice, and realistic scenario-based learning, participants will practice responding to medical emergencies, trauma incidents, cardiac events, respiratory emergencies, and other situations where quick action matters.
Upon successful completion, students will have a strong foundation in emergency response, patient assessment, and lifesaving interventions. This course is ideal for anyone beginning a path in emergency services or strengthening their organization’s emergency preparedness.
This course is also designed to help prepare students for the National Registry Emergency Medical Responder certification examination.
Course is certified by the ND Department of Health Division of EMS & Trauma.
